The South African Doubles Team of Jeff Coetzee and Wesley Moodie have started their 2008 ATP Claycourt campaign the best possible way by winning their first ATP Title together on clay and then backing that up with a win against the best team in the world and a semi final appearance in the prestigious ATP event in Monte Carlo .

After getting through the early rounds the pair met the 7 th seed and French pair of Clement and Llodra in the Quarter Finals. After splitting their first 2 meetings this year, the Sth African pair won a tight first set in a tie break and then went on to win the match in straight sets.

In the Quarter finals they were up against the number one team in the world of Bob and Mike Bryan from the United States . After losing all previous matches to the number one team in the world this year in straight sets. The team of Coetzee and Moodie split the first 2 sets and found themselves in a match tie break to decide the match. After a roller coaster of a tie break and a few lead changes the Sth African Team prevailed 10-8 in the match tie break for their first victory together over the number one seeds and a spot in the Semi Finals.

Coetzee said, “Winning a match like this one today give you a lot of confidence. Those guys are the best team and have definitely had the better of us this year. Again, this win gives us a lot of confidence and reinforces that we belong here with these best teams”.

In the semi finals, the pair took on the 4 th seeds of Buhpathi and Knowles. After a dominant first set by their opponents, Coetzee and Moodie fought hard in the 2 nd set doing everything to force a match tie break. Unfortunately they fell just short losing a tight 2 nd set and the match 6-0 7-5.
